Queensland – Energy use – Energy Roadmap and Amendment Bill released

The QLD Government has released its Energy Roadmap, and has also introduced the Energy Roadmap Amendment Bill 2025 to Parliament, which aims to deliver the State’s objectives for Queensland’s energy system as outlined in the Roadmap. Proposed changes will rename the Energy (Renewable Transformation and Jobs) Act 2024 to the Energy (Infrastructure Facilitation) Act 2024, repeal the renewable energy targets under the legislation, and rename the REZ framework to ‘regional energy hubs’, among other changes to enhance efficiency, reduce administrative complexity, and support the delivery of sustainable energy for Queenslanders.

Victoria – Energy use – Energy Safe Victoria launces 2025-28 strategy

Energy Safe Victoria has released its Strategy 2025-28 outlining the regulator’s approach to mounting challenges in Victoria’s evolving energy landscape.

New South Wales – Climate change – Mandatory climate reporting introduced

The NSW Government has announced that mandatory climate reporting for government entities is being introduced to manage climate risks and opportunities, and progress towards net zero targets. Specified initial entities will be required to publish disclosures as part of their 2024-25 annual reports.
