Australia – Digital platform for mentally healthy workplaces available

The National Mental Health Commission has created a Mentally Healthy Workplaces digital platform. It contains learning modules, resources, news and events related to mentally healthy workplaces, mental ill-health and suicide.

Queensland – Fatigue and mental health in mining report published

The Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health has published the Fatigue Management in the Queensland Mining Industry and its Relationship with Mental Health report, which found that heavy vehicle drivers working night shifts at surface mines had the highest risk of being involved in fatigue-related incidents. To improve WHS outcomes, proposals include reviewing legislation against best practice for continuous improvement, wider use of fatigue detection technologies, increasing worker consultation on fatigue management and rostering arrangements, and creation of a mentally healthy workplaces toolkit.

Performance report for mine safety released

The NSW Resources Regulator has released the Mine Safety Performance Report 2021 – 2022. The report covers the health and safety results and performance benchmarks in the NSW mining industry, and details a range of measures to guide future health and safety performance improvements.
