New South Wales – Bill to establish standalone regulator introduced to parliament
The NSW Government has introduced the Work Health and Safety Amendment (Standalone Regulator) Bill 2025 to parliament. The Bill aims to establish SafeWork NSW as a standalone regulator and to introduce an Advisory Council.

Victoria – Regulations for psychosocial hazards announced
The Victorian Government has announced that regulations around psychosocial hazards are set to be made in October and will take effect on 1 December 2025. The regulations will clarify duties for employers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 to keep workers safe from psychosocial hazards.
Australia – Engineered stone ban under review
SafeWork Australia is consulting on how the engineered stone ban is operating, with comments sought via questionnaires, submissions and public webinars. The feedback will inform a review of the current ban which commenced 1 July 2024, as well as the health risks from benchtops, panels and slabs made from alternative products.
