South Australia – Draft Biodiversity Bill released

The Department for Environment and Water is seeking feedback on the draft Biodiversity Bill, which has been developed based on feedback received during previous consultation. The proposed legislation will be South Australia’s first dedicated Biodiversity Act and will improve protection of the state’s biodiversity.

New South Wales – Draft sustainable construction policy released

The NSW EPA has released the Draft Protection of the Environment Policy (PEP) for Sustainable Construction and is seeking public feedback. The policy aims to reduce upfront carbon emissions and promote a circular economy in major public infrastructure projects, by encouraging the use of recycled materials, among other things.

Queensland  – Amendments to protected area estates proposed

The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to protected area estates. The amendments place important consideration on Aboriginal peoples’ and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural rights and areas, among other things.
