New GEMS Determination for air conditioners above 65 kW introduced
The Australian Government has introduced a new Determination for air conditioners above 65 kW, under the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Act 2012. The Determination, which will commence on 1 April 2022, introduces minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for air conditioners above 65 kW, and requires Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) information to be provided when registering models of these products.

Draft construction noise guideline released – Open for comment until 15 Mar
The Environment Protection Authority has released the Draft Construction Noise Guideline and is seeking public feedback. The guideline details a framework for the management of noise from major construction work, focusing on environmental planning, mitigation measures and construction work done outside of standard hours. The Guidelines are intended to replace the 2009 interim guidelines. Comments close 15 March 2021.

$35 million co-investment for waste and recycling infrastructure announced – Applications open until 26 Mar
The NSW Government has announced that $35 million in co-funding with the Federal Government is now available under its Recycling Modernisation Fund, to be delivered through the Remanufacture NSW Program. The funding is intended to assist eligible resource recovery companies in transitioning towards bans on waste plastic, paper, glass and tyres exports. Applications close 26 March 2021.
