Australia – Construction – National voluntary certification scheme for manufacturers of prefabricated construction proposed

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) is seeking stakeholder feedback on the National Voluntary Certification Scheme for Manufacturers of Prefabricated Construction. Proposed changes include an update to the definition for ‘prefabricated construction’ within the National Construction Code (NCC), a proposed Scheme framework, and draft Scheme Rules and Economic Analysis Report to support the Scheme. A Discussion Paper has also been published for further information.

Australia – Heavy vehicles – Results of speeding and speed tampering operation released

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator has released results of a national enforcement operation for speeding and speed limiter tampering of heavy vehicles. Of over 2,000 vehicle intercepts, 9.6% of vehicles were found to be speeding or had illegally modified speed limiters.

Australia – Chemicals – Exposure limits for nine chemicals require further work

SafeWork Australia has announced that a majority in support of new workplace exposure limits for nine chemicals was not reached and ministers have requested further work. There will be no changes to exposure limits for those nine chemicals from 1 December 2026.
