Australia – Heavy vehicles – HVNL reform commencement date confirmed and information released
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator has announced that the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) reform will commence on 1 August 2026. It has also published recordings of its recent information sessions relating to the upcoming changes. In addition, a national notice to fast-track higher mass limits ahead of the commencement is currently under development, and fact sheets for the proposed changes to mass, dimension and loading have been published.

Queensland – WHS Bill for WHS incident reporting introduced
The Strengthening Protections Against Violent Workplace Incidents Amendment Bill 2026 has been introduced to QLD Parliament and referred to a Parliamentary Committee. The Bill partially adopts the model WHS amendments for incident notification, which includes workplace violence, sexual assault and the threat of assault. Public submissions on the Bill are sought on widening the notifiable incident requirements within the Work Health Safety Act 2011 and Safety in Recreational Water Activities Act 2011.

South Australia – Workplaces – Campaign for slips and trips commenced
SafeWork SA has announced a new awareness campaign focusing on slip and trip hazards and roll-aways in the workplace. A series of videos and webpages have been created to support a range of industries where these hazards are common.
