Australia – Engineered stone import ban announced
The Australian Government has announced a ban on imports of engineered stone from 1 January 2025. The import ban follows a ban on manufacturing, processing, supplying and installing the product in Australia.

Queensland – Facilities and amenities at construction sites to be improved
The QLD Government has made amendments to the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 to improve facilities and amenities to be provided at certain construction sites from 1 January 2025. Changes relate to dedicated female toilets, minimum numbers of toilets for a site, toilets with hinged lids and lighting, and providing amenities such as sanitary bins and soap.

Victoria – Changes to gas supply and storage proposed
The Victorian Government has introduced the Building Legislation Amendment and Other Matters Bill 2024 and the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Amendment Bill 2024 to parliament, to allow offshore gas storage projects in Victorian waters and enable consultation on Victoria’s energy transition. Consultation on draft regulations for residential gas will open in December 2024.
