Australia – Rail Safety National Law review report published
The National Transport Commission has published the final report for the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL) review, which includes recommendations that have been endorsed by transport ministers. The review focused on administration of the RSNL, transparency, interaction with WHS laws, co-regulation with other rail reforms, roles and responsibilities, and flexibility for future technology. The report contains a high-level implementation plan, with 12 legislative reforms planned for implementation in 2 years and five non-legislative recommendations in 1 to 2 years.

Australia – Government response to Bill reports published
The Australian Government has released its responses to two reports on amendment Bills for the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018, noting all recommendations and determining that substantive Government responses are not appropriate due to the time passed since the reports were tabled.

New South Wales – Industrial manslaughter Bill introduced to parliament
The NSW Government has introduced the Work Health and Safety Amendment (Industrial Manslaughter) Bill 2024 to Parliament to criminalise industrial manslaughter. The Bill will align NSW with the rest of the country and allow for a business or individual to be held responsible for death due to gross negligence in the workplace.
