Queensland – Workers’ compensation scheme under review
The Queensland Government has announced that the workers’ compensation scheme is being independently reviewed. The review will examine how the scheme is performing and meeting its objectives, and delve into how psychological injuries are managed. It is expected that the review will be completed by 30 June 2023.

Western Australia – New workers compensation Bill introduced
The West Australian Government has introduced the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Bill 2023 to Parliament following WorkCover WA’s previous review. The new Bill builds on reforms from 2018 and 2020, and will clarify and modernise WA’s worker’s compensation laws.
Australia – National road safety action plan released
The Australian Government has released the National Road Safety Action Plan 2023-2025, which includes 11 actions for the heavy vehicle industry and 15 actions for workplace road safety. Among the actions are developing a national fatigue risk management approach for heavy vehicle operators, and collecting data of workplace fatalities involving a vehicle and workplace crashes and near misses.
