Australia – Bill to address workplace sexual harassment introduced

The Australian Government has introduced the Anti-Discrimination and Human Rights Legislation Amendment (Respect at Work) Bill 2022 to Parliament, which intends to address the remaining Respect@Work report commendations. The Bill includes a positive duty on employers and PCBUs to eliminate sexual harassment and unlawful discrimination, among other amendments.

Psychosocial hazards provisions within WHS laws confirmed

The Queensland Government has finalised amendments to incorporate provisions for psychosocial hazards within the WHS laws on 1 April 2023. The changes give effect to psychosocial hazard amendments made in the model WHS Regulations following a review in 2018. The Government has also indicated a related code of practice will be introduced.

Psychological Health Regulations to progress in 2023

WorkSafe Victoria has announced that it is now reviewing stakeholder feedback on the proposed Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (Psychological Health) Regulations, with progress on the regulations to continue in 2023.
