Western Australia – Aboriginal cultural heritage co-design process underway

The WA Government is consulting on a suite of draft documents as part of the second phase of the new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2021 co-design process. A series of workshops is also being held at various locations. The new laws will come into effect in mid-2023. Comments close 19 August 2022.

Victoria – Regulations for metropolitan and regional parks proposed

The VIC Government is seeking feedback on proposed regulations for the management of metropolitan and regional parks, which includes controls for the protection of the environment and cultural values. The Regulations are expected to be finalised in late September or early October 2022.  Comments close 22 August 2022.

South Australia – Liability removed for retailers that allow BYO containers

The SA Government has passed legislation that will remove civil liability issues for food retailers that allow customers to bring their own reusable container. Retailers will no longer be liable for any issues that arise with food purchased and transported in a BYO container. These changes will be another step to help reduce plastic waste across the State.
