Australia – HVNL productivity program underway

The National Transport Commission has announced that the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) review has ended and that it is working on the HVNL Safety and Productivity Program 2021-2023, which will decide how to change the HVNL based on the findings of the review.

TAS – New Electricity Safety Bill introduced to Parliament

The TAS Government has introduced the Electricity Safety Bill 2022 to Parliament following extensive consultation. The Bill aims to consolidate existing electricity safety laws and provide a modern legislative framework.

SA – Proactive compliance campaign for asbestos announced

SafeWork SA has announced it is undertaking a state-wide proactive compliance campaign for asbestos in workplaces. Inspectors will check that persons with management or control of a workplace have ensured asbestos at the workplace has been identified, its locations clearly recorded in a register, the register has been reviewed as appropriate, and that an asbestos management plan is in place if appropriate.
