WA – Water Reform Bill to be developed

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is developing a Water Reform Bill which aims to consolidate six water resource management Acts. The new legislation will be fundamental in allowing the department to manage water more effectively for the economic, social and environmental values of the State. The Bill will also update the Water Services Act and associated regulations.

NSW – Draft replacement water sharing plans released – Open for comment until 27 Feb

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has released draft water sharing plans covering Coffs Harbour Area, Hunter Unregulated and Alluvial, and the Lower North Coast, and is seeking feedback from water users and other key stakeholders prior to their July 2022 commencement. The plans set rules for water management and the limit of the total volume of water that can be extracted from the water sources in teach area. Comments close 27 February 2022.
