The National Transport Commission has decided not to propose a reduction to the maximum weekly hours of truck drivers following consultation with industry. Industry indicated that reducing limits could counteract the safety goals, as some workers may need to find a second job and some long-haul drivers may not be able to get back home each week.

Victoria – Brutal reminders safety campaign announced
The VIC Government and WorkSafe Victoria have announced a new workplace safety campaign to remind businesses and employers to remain vigilant to workplace-related hazards and risks as businesses reopen.

Victoria – New occupational health and safety campaign for busy holiday season launched
WorkSafe VIC has launched the ‘Let’s put 2021 safely behind us’ health and safety campaign in the lead up to the busy holiday season. The campaign aims to encourage employers and employees particularly in the retail, manufacturing and construction industries, to limit cut corners during busy holiday peaks and ensure the highest safety standards are being maintained.
