New regulator introduced as part of the Queensland mining safety and health reforms

The QLD Government has introduced the Resources Safety and Health Queensland Bill 2019, which will establish Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ), a new independent regulator that will be responsible for regulating safety and health in the state’s resources sector. These changes follow recommendations of the Parliamentary Select Committee into coal worker’s pneumoconiosis. More here and here.
