What's new at Environment Essentials

SafetyLaw Rail has now been published for NSW.

It provides plain English summaries of NSW rail safety legal obligations from:

  • Rail Safety Act 2008
  • Rail Safety (General) Regulation 2008
  • Rail Safety (Drug and Alcohol Testing) Regulation 2008.
Obligations SafetyLaw Rail summarises obligations related to:
  • rolling stock
  • signalling and communications
  • maintenance
  • managing and monitoring passenger safety.

Topic groupings

As with SafetyLaw, legal obligations in SafetyLaw Rail are grouped into two menus:

    1. Systems menu, with categories which reflect AS 4801 elements (eg. records, risk control)

    2. Activities menu, with categories for specific rail safety issues (eg. communication systems, network rules).

Features SafetyLaw Rail includes:
  • plain English summaries of obligations, grouped by category
  • reference to the source legislation for each obligation
  • links to individual sections and regulations (in full text) from legislation
  • hyperlinks to referenced Acts, Regulations, and ITSRR guidelines
  • lists of due diligence publications (eg Australian standards, guidelines), hyperlinked when the document is publicly available
  • comprehensive index for easy searching
  • contact details for our help desk service.

If you would like a demonstration of SafetyLaw Rail, please contact us.

To view a demonstration version of SafetyLaw Rail yourself:

1. Go to www.enviroessentials.com.au.

2. In the left hand panel, you will be asked to either click continue or enter a username and password.

3a. If you are asked to continue:

  • click continue
  • to the right of your organisation logo, click 'Remove auto login'
  • enter username acme and password lunar*
3b. If you are asked to enter a username and password, enter username acme and password lunar*

4. Under the SafetyLaw logo, under New South Wales, click on Rail Safety.

* This is valid until 11 April. For access after this date, please contact us.
